As the days go by, we get closer to the moment we've all been waiting for: the start of The Amundi Evian Championship 2024. To continue immersing you in the competition, we'll focus on 10 of the 132 competitors who will tee off this Thursday, July 11. This selection includes those who are shining this season, many of whom are favorites for this 30th edition of the Major. From Nelly Korda to Jin-Young Ko, and including the French players Céline Boutier and Adela Cernousek, here are ten players to watch at The Amundi Evian Championship 2024.

Nelly Korda Despite missing three consecutive cuts in her last three outings, the 25-year-old American remains the standout player of 2024. With six victories in eleven tournaments, she has simply outclassed all her competitors. She even rattled Hannah Green on her 72nd hole during the previous Mizuho Americas Open, in a thrilling mano a mano. If Nelly Korda were to win in Haute-Savoie, she would become the first player in LPGA Tour history to win seven tournaments in a single season. Even Inbee Park in 2013 "only" won six, which shows the monumental figure Korda is becoming. It's only fitting to place the world number one among the favorites, but it would be even crazier to see her win.

In brief: There's Scottie Scheffler on the PGA Tour, and Nelly Korda on the LPGA. Americans and golf, it's a well-oiled machine.

Céline Boutier France's number one, defending champion, and world number six. The year 2023 catapulted the Frenchwoman into a new dimension, that of the "faces of the game," as our NBA friends would say. From this historic season, capped with four victories, her triumph in last year's Major stands out. Leading by one stroke on Friday evening, before extending her lead to three shots over Nasa Hataoka by the end of moving day, Boutier then crushed her opponents by starting her final round with two consecutive birdies. She mentioned in the documentary "Inside Évian" on Canal+ that she was "in the zone." This time, she will be in her garden, the place that made her a Major winner. In the tournament's history, Laura Davies is the only player to win back-to-back (1995 & 1996), just so you know.

In brief: Her 2024 season was phenomenal, she's less in form in 2023. But at Évian, she'll always be one to watch.

Brooke Henderson In eight appearances at the Major, Brooke Henderson has only finished outside the top-25 once, in 2017 when she placed 57th. Otherwise, she has four top-10 finishes, including a resounding victory in 2022 and a second place last year, proving her comfort at Évian. With thirteen LPGA Tour victories, the Canadian has been one of the circuit's most consistent players since turning pro in 2014. Over the past eleven years, she has placed in the top-10 of a Major sixteen times, with only 2019 lacking this privilege. This consistency at the highest level naturally places her among the serious contenders for the Savoyard trophy. A ninth duel between Brooke Henderson and The Champions Course promises to be thrilling; it remains to be seen who will emerge victorious.

In brief: If Céline Boutier hadn't been in a state of grace last year, Brooke would currently be the two-time defending champion. Évian is her territory.

Yuka Saso At just 19 years old, she won her first US Open in 2021, before joining the LPGA Tour the following season. An authentic prodigy, Yuka Saso is one of those players who elevate the game when performing at their best. Her high-risk game sometimes propels her to the top of the leaderboard, but can also penalize her from one day to the next. Her two appearances at Évian are perfect illustrations of this. She missed the cut in 2022 with rounds of 71/73, then started her 2023 edition with 67/69, finishing the week in 3rd place. Her recent Major performances follow this pattern; she claimed her second US Women’s Open in late May before finishing 68th at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship a few days ago. One thing is sure, Yuka Saso’s game is always a spectacle, filled with the passion she’s known for.

In brief: Keep an eye on her, because when she’s on point, golf turns into magic.

Jin-Young Ko In this article, we presented last year's sensational journey of this player with magic hands. The South Korean has been undeniably one of the stalwarts of the LPGA Tour since her arrival in 2018, highlighted by her exceptional 2019 season (8 podiums, 4 victories including 2 Majors). For the Seoul native, the challenge is immense: winning another Major, as she hasn’t tasted such victory since The Amundi Evian Championship 2019. It’s not for lack of trying. Over the past five years, she has finished eight Majors in the top-10, including the recent KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. She arrives at Évian ready, brimming with confidence, aiming to firmly establish herself as the mistress of the course by claiming the Savoyard trophy for the second time.

In brief: It’s not a matter of if she will win another Major, but when. Let’s see what the tireless Jin-Young Ko has in store this year…
