The Amundi Evian Championship 

After the success of the Jabra Ladies Open in May, marked by Swiss player Morgane Metraux's victory, and the triumph of Japan's Ayaka Furue at the Major The Amundi Evian Championship in July, the Evian Resort Golf Club is set to host two international tournaments for young golfers in September 2024.
September 17-19: The Amundi Evian Juniors Cup – A Breeding Ground for Future Champions
Since its inception in 2007, The Amundi Evian Juniors Cup has become an unmissable event for golfers under 14. This team-based tournament, won by the USA in 2023, has served as a launchpad for many now-famous players, including Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Viktor Hovland, and Rose Zhang.
In its 16 editions, The Amundi Evian Juniors Cup has unveiled future professionals while offering amateurs the opportunity to compete against the international elite, providing them with invaluable experience for their future careers. This tournament embodies The Amundi Evian Championship’s ongoing commitment to nurturing and developing tomorrow’s talent. Beyond the competition, the event serves as a vital platform for sharing and exchange, facilitating the personal and athletic growth of future champions.
This year, no fewer than 18 teams, each composed of 2 girls and 2 boys, will represent their nations on The Champions Course: Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Finland, France, Japan, Korea, Italy, Morocco, Mexico, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, and the United States.
September 21-22: The Grand Final of The Amundi Evian Kids Cup
Launched in 2010 by Sandrine Mendiburu, The Amundi Evian Kids Cup also reflects the Major’s commitment to youth. Aimed at children under 12, this competition offers them the chance to experience international golf competition in a prestigious and formative setting. As the youngest event in the "Galaxy of The Amundi Evian Championship," this initiative underscores the importance of developing young talent at Evian.
As the largest European competition in its category, The Amundi Evian Kids Cup comprises seven qualifying events across France, culminating in a final at Evian. Talents like Pauline Roussin-Bouchard, who won multiple times between 2010 and 2012, have emerged from this competition. Today, the event continues to rely on renowned partners such as Amundi and Callaway, and enjoys the support of prestigious patrons like Jon Rahm and Julien Brun.
For the young participants aged 8 to 12, this event represents much more than just a competition. It is an opportunity to showcase their skills while creating lasting memories. By encouraging the participation of the youngest golfers, The Amundi Evian Kids Cup fosters a passion for golf from an early age and contributes to building a strong and enduring sporting culture.

During the 30th edition of The Amundi Evian Championship, the prestigious "Prize for a Better Tomorrow presented by Rolex" was awarded to the Roger Federer Foundation, represented by Roger Federer himself. This organization, dedicated to the education of children in Africa and Switzerland, stands out for its commitment to inclusion through sport.
The mission of the Roger Federer Foundation is to empower disadvantaged children to take control of their future by fully supporting them from a young age. Believing that this goal can be achieved through enhanced support and quality education, the foundation works to improve access to education and overcome challenges such as high repetition rates and, most importantly, the lack of education among children under the age of 8.
To date, nearly 2.9 million children worldwide have benefited from the program launched 20 years ago by Roger Federer.

The 2024 edition of The Amundi Evian Championship concluded this Sunday under a magnificent summer sun, with a suspense-filled victory by Japanese golfer Ayaka Furue. She outperformed her runner-up Stephanie Kyriacou by a single stroke to claim the title. Celebrating the 30th anniversary of this Major, marked by the omnipresent pink theme on Sunday, it was a historic week.
 
First Round Sets the Pace
From the start of the tournament, the battle for the top spot was fierce. The competition kicked off with a bang, featuring two hole-in-ones by England’s Jodi Ewart Shadoff and Taiwanese amateur Chun-Wei Wu. Many players delivered high-caliber golf that day; some were expected to excel, while others were surprising contenders.
One unexpected standout was Sweden’s Ingrid Lindblad, ranked 581st in the Rolex Women’s Ranking. She made a stunning entry with an impressive first-round score of 64 (-7), matching the scores of Patty Tavatanakit and Gemma Dryburgh, both within the top 100 globally. The Thai golfer, accustomed to major events, posted the best round of her career at Evian on Thursday, while the Scottish player, who had missed four consecutive cuts, matched her feat. A flurry of scores in the 65 (-6) and 66 (-5) range followed throughout Thursday.
 
Weather-Disrupted Friday
While the first day basked in sunshine, Friday saw less favorable conditions. Half of the players managed to complete their rounds before play was interrupted around 4:30 PM, officially suspended nearly two hours later.
South Korea’s Yu-Jin Sung delighted early-rising spectators with the first 63 (-8) of the week, featuring seven birdies and an eagle, placing her in the top six of the Major. Meanwhile, Nelly Korda started her week quietly, just making the cut, while 2023 winner Céline Boutier completed her second round with a 68 (-3) after an opening 69 (-2). Our first-night leaders posted more modest scores.
 
A Marathon Saturday
At 7:30 AM, the 66 players who hadn’t finished their second 18 holes were already back in action to try and make the cut. The second round of the Major highlighted the surge of Japanese golfer Ayaka Furue. Particularly impressive the previous day, she ended her first two rounds as the sole leader.
Facing the 30th Evian weekend required resilience. Slowly but surely, a leading pack formed at the top of the leaderboard. American Lauren Coughlin posted another 65 (-6), her second of the week, propelling her to second place. Equally surprising, Australian Stephanie Kyriacou went on a mission, carding three rounds of 66-66-67. Her fourteen-under-par total made her the sole leader by Saturday evening. Ayaka Furue, on the other hand, had a quiet third round with a 70 (-1), placing her one stroke behind Kyriacou, ready to share the final round with her on Sunday.
 
A Celebratory Sunday, Furue Victorious
Despite the odds being low for Céline Boutier to defend her title, the French crowd, fervent golf fans, came to cheer her on. They also followed the exploits of the leading players, proudly sporting pink to celebrate the tournament’s 30th anniversary. On this Major Sunday, three players stood out from the rest: Ayaka Furue, Lauren Coughlin, and Stephanie Kyriacou, leading the charge into the final round.
Though they differed greatly in character and background, the leaders shared a common goal: to win their first Major. As soon as this group set off on The Champions Course, birdies rained down. With five birdies among the trio on the first three holes, the spectacle and suspense were at their peak. Throughout the final 18 holes, the spotlight shifted among the three. Furue reached -14 at the 14th tee, Kyriacou at -16, and Coughlin at -17. But the Japanese player, who was interrupted at this exact point on Friday, decided to make her own thunderous comeback. Three consecutive birdies on holes 14, 15, and 16 put her back on track, while Lauren Coughlin faced her first bogey of the day on the 16th green.
At the 18th tee, the situation was crystal clear: Patty Tavatanakit had finished with a total of -17, leaving Kyriacou and Furue with their fate in their hands. Both had the opportunity to surpass the Thai golfer with scores below par. Kyriacou landed her approach shot three meters from the flag for a birdie, while Furue was just a bit further in eagle position. The moment had come. Ayaka Furue seized her momentum, sinking a final putt to win The Amundi Evian Championship 2024, her first Major victory.
 
A Historic Ceremony
Fifteen years after Ai Miyazato, The Champions Course crowned another Japanese golfer, Ayaka Furue, on the tournament’s 30th anniversary. The Pink Lady of the day, donning a pink skirt for the occasion, was welcomed on the 18th green by Jacques Bungert, Franck Riboud, and Valérie Baudson for the trophy presentation. The flag of the Land of the Rising Sun unfurled over our new champion, marking the start of the celebrations as the Evian crowd, after a week of sumptuous golf, celebrated the 2024 winner.
The tournament teams, along with all partners, volunteers, and groundskeepers, thank you for your invaluable support each year. Life in Pink - The 2024 Major Story

On this Sunday, July 14, 2024, France's National Day, The Amundi Evian Championship celebrates its new winner Ayaka Furue. With a one-stroke lead (-19) over her closest competitor Stephanie Kyriacou, the 24-year-old Japanese golfer wins her first Major, having already secured an impressive 6th place at the US Open in early June. On this Pink Sunday, the 30th anniversary of the tournament, the Rising Sun flag gracefully adorns the 18th green in honor of Ayaka Furue. This marks her tenth professional victory. By coincidence, she clinched her first win at the 2022 Trust Golf Scottish Open, three strokes ahead of Céline Boutier. Following her impressive performances in 2024, the world's 21st-ranked player gives her career a whole new dimension. Now a Major winner, she is only the second from her country to join this prestigious circle, following Yuka Saso. The smile of our new titleholder and the celebration of all those who participated in this historic week—the tournament teams, the players and their staff, the volunteers, the gardeners, and the spectators—bring the historic 2024 edition to a close.
 
<h3>A Thrilling Finale</h3>
The suspense lasted until the end, but it was Ayaka Furue who ultimately seized the trophy of The Amundi Evian Championship 2024. After an exceptional start to the week with 46 bogey-free holes, she faced a few tougher holes without ever faltering. Often saved by her putting and frequently comfortable with her long game, she demonstrated consistency and exemplary behavior. Already leading after the second round, she had to battle relentlessly to fend off a tenacious Stephanie Kyriacou.
The talented 23-year-old Australian made life difficult for her until the end. She started this final round as the tournament leader and delivered a fabulous final 18 holes. With five birdies on her scorecard, including three on the last four holes, the bogey on the 17th might linger in her mind. Nonetheless, it was her first time in a final group of a Major, likely heralding a promising series. Notably, she was the only player to shoot under 70 throughout the week.
The last few holes did not favor Lauren Coughlin, whose missed short putts on the 16th and 17th led to two bogeys, dashing her hopes of lifting the trophy. Nonetheless, it was a very successful week for the American, who showcased her skills in honor of Angela Stanford's career end. Following her four top-15 finishes in 2024, the world's 56th-ranked player can be proud of her impressive performance this week.
<h3>A Strong Finish for the Favorites, Tavatanakit Shines</h3>
World No. 1 and No. 2 players Nelly Korda and Lilia Vu drew inspiration from the bright blue sky over Évian today to regain their form. Paired in group 6 with fellow American Ryan O’Toole, both turned in a score of 68 (-3). With a total score of -5, the two Americans share 26th place with other great champions like Brooke Henderson and Jin-Young Ko.
It was a calm day for our 2023 winner, France’s top player Céline Boutier. True to her week's efforts and her characteristic resilience, she persevered to conclude her Alpine stay as best as possible. Symbolic of her tenacity, she finished her final round with a magnificent eagle on the 18th, ending with an even-par score and a total of -3 for the 72 holes. Rose Zhang and Lydia Ko also had overall performances of three under par.
This Sunday also allowed the French public to witness the second 63 (-8) of the week, achieved by Thai player Patty Tavatanakit. An imperial final round for the smiling 2020 LPGA Tour rookie, who delighted in ending her week with an eagle on the last hole, having already scored six birdies. At -17 total, she nearly forced a playoff, holding the clubhouse lead until Furue matched her a few minutes later.
<h3>Miscellaneous News</h3>

 <li>A third hole-in-one of the week, the second on the 16th, was made this afternoon by Taiwanese player Peiyun Chien. It was the second act of a dream finish for the world’s 91st-ranked player, who was -4 over her last five holes. She finished 7th in the Major.</li>
 <li>Despite a final round of 75 (+4), our top amateur of the week Rachel Kuehn at least enjoyed her 4th round watching Anna Nordqvist’s 65 (-6), the second-best score of the day.</li>
 <li>Besides Patty Tavatanakit, Gemma Dryburgh and Ingrid Lindblad were co-leaders after the first day. The Scottish player finished in 17th place (-7), the Swedish player 26th (-5).</li>

Ayaka Furue, 30th Pink Lady - Summary of the 4th Round 2024

A day full of twists and turns in Évian as the conclusion of the second round preceded the start of Moving Day. Bathed in the radiant Alpine sun, The Champions Course allowed the best golfers of the week to shine. At the end of this long day, Australian Stephanie Kyriacou took the lead in The Amundi Evian Championship 2024. The most consistent player this week with three rounds of 66-66-67, totaling fourteen under par, she is now reaping the rewards. Playing in the final group of a Major for the first time, all eyes will be on her. Trailing by one stroke are Japan's Ayaka Furue and America's Lauren Coughlin.
<h3>Stephanie Kyriacou Leads Alone, Coughlin and Furue Close Behind</h3>
In 2024, Stephanie Kyriacou hasn't recorded a single top-10 finish. However, she has secured five since joining the LPGA Tour in 2022. The 23-year-old Australian is still learning, but she already demonstrates a high level of play to compete with the best on the circuit. Evidence of this is her current solo lead in the Major. Ranked 100th in the Rolex Women’s World Ranking, she has been improving each year at Évian: 65th in 2021, 31st in 2022, and 16th last year. Hopefully, this positive trend continues. One thing is certain: she has the character and talent for it!
Playing alongside Kyriacou today was Ayaka Furue, our halfway leader. Impressive with both her long game and putting in the first two rounds, the world number 21 slightly slowed her pace after shooting two consecutive rounds of 65 (-6). She extended her bogey-free streak to 46 holes before minor errors on the 11th and 13th holes bookended a birdie on the 12th, resulting in a final score of 70 (-1) for Moving Day.
Meanwhile, 31-year-old American Lauren Coughlin has also joined the final group of the Major. Playing on the LPGA since 2018, she had a strong start this week, finishing Thursday at -5, just two strokes behind the first-round leaders. Her last three holes in the second round this morning likely set her up well for Moving Day. A 70 (-1) left her poised for a strong comeback, which she achieved with a magnificent second-round score of 65 (-6), featuring four birdies and two eagles (on the 9th and 18th). She now faces a Major Sunday under the spotlight.

<h3>Ally Ewing Shines, Tavatanakit and Boutier Struggle</h3>
After two rounds of 70 (-1), experienced American Ally Ewing stepped up her game this afternoon, finishing her third round with a bogey-free 64 (-7), the best score of the day. Having competed in every Amundi Evian Championship since 2016, her best finish here was 13th in her second appearance. Starting in 5th place for the final round on Sunday, she has the chance to beat her personal record. One of the most consistent players on the tour – ranked 10th in scoring average on the LPGA Tour – she has recently secured two consecutive top-5 finishes in Majors, placing 3rd at the US Open and 5th at the PGA Championship. Can she make it three in a row?
Patty Tavatanakit, known for her smile on courses around the globe, had little reason to smile after a double bogey on the 1st and a bogey on the 3rd, quickly distancing herself from the lead she was just two strokes away from at the start of Moving Day. However, a birdie on the 4th followed by another on the 9th put her back on track. The 28th-ranked Thai player finished her moving day with a 72 (+1), still within reasonable distance of leader Stephanie Kyriacou to hope for a victory tomorrow.
Greeted by an impressive crowd on the 1st tee, Frenchwoman Céline Boutier also struggled at the start of her third round with a triple bogey, following an errant drive to the right and a series of small mistakes. From there, she had to rally, which she did. With three birdies and two bogeys over the next 17 holes, she managed to finish with a 73 (+2). While disappointing – especially for her – this score at least reduces some pressure for tomorrow. The French public will be there to support her!

<h3>News in Brief</h3>

 <li>The third round proved slightly more challenging for our only amateur to make the cut, Rachel Kuehn. After rounds of 71 (par) and 69 (-1), she finished Moving Day with a 73 (+2). She will share her round tomorrow with the well-known Anna Nordqvist and Yuna Nishimura.</li>
 <li>World numbers 1 and 2, Nelly Korda and Lilia Vu, will play alongside Rayan O’Toole in an all-American group at 8:57 am. They all stand at -2 overall.</li>
 <li>Noteworthy was the strong comeback by Mexican Gaby Lopez, who rebounded from a 65 (-6) on Thursday and a tough 75 (+4) yesterday to shoot a solid 68 (-3) today.</li>

Kyriacou takes the lead - 3rd round Summary 

Despite yesterday’s thunderstorms and rain cutting short the remaining rounds in the afternoon, the bright sunshine from the first round returned this morning. This gave the early birds an opportunity to watch the 66 players who had not finished their second 18 holes starting at 7:30 am.
The radiant Ayaka Furue confirmed her leading status at a total of -12, finishing her second round with five pars this morning. Two strokes behind, Australian Stephanie Kyriacou and Thai Patty Tavatanakit share second place at -10. This morning, the talented Hye-Jin Choi, now ranked 4th in the Majors, made a remarkable performance. After ending her first nine holes with two bogeys, she decorated her return with four birdies. If she maintains this form, the 55th-ranked player in the world will undoubtedly be one to watch this afternoon.

<h3>Furue Won't Relinquish the Lead</h3>
Determined to stay atop the leaderboard, the Japanese player, who has secured eight top-10 finishes in sixteen tournaments this season, remains the leader of The Amundi Evian Championship 2024. Despite a slight dip in form at the end of her round yesterday afternoon, she relied on flawless putting to save pars on the 10th and 12th holes. She then made another par on the 13th before the foghorn halted play. Resuming this morning on the 14th tee, dressed in a bright yellow top as brilliant as her game, she hit another regulation green. She then created two clear birdie opportunities on the 15th and 16th, but without success. Two more pars to complete her second 18 holes keep her in sole possession of the lead at the halfway point, with no mistakes over 36 holes. 12 birdies, 24 pars, a masterclass performance.

<h3>Jin-Young and Lydia Ko, Patty Tavatanakit, Céline Boutier, Brooke Henderson, Angela Stanford, and Hyo Joo Kim All in Contention</h3>
Except for Nelly Korda, who has been less impressive than at the start of the season, most favorites have settled into the top-30. Jin-Young Ko, Boutier, and Henderson all managed to finish their second rounds yesterday before the storms. The South Korean world number 3 posted a superb 67 (-4), our defending champion recorded a sixth consecutive round in the '60s at Évian with a 68 (-3), as did the 2022 winner who is once again present in Haute-Savoie.
Patty Tavatanakit, Lydia Ko, Angela Stanford, and Hyo Joo Kim still had work to complete their second rounds this morning. The smiling Thai player is tied for second place (-10) with Stephanie Kyriacou. The 2015 and 2018 winners Ko and Stanford are respectively at -4 and -5 after 36 holes. Kim, despite a dip in form this morning, is also entering the third round in 16th position after cards of 65/72.

Furue Maintains the Lead - End of the 2nd Round

The interruption of the game, which occurred yesterday afternoon due to thunderstorms, forced the tournament teams to make some adjustments, allowing the matches that had not finished their second round to complete it this morning.
Play will resume on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 7:30 AM. 66 players are affected by this interruption, while the other 64 will wait to find out whether or not they will advance to the third and fourth rounds. The cut is currently set at par. The third round is expected to begin around 10:45 AM, with starts from both the 1st and 10th tees.

Ayaka Furue has taken the lead in the tournament at a total of -12, with Stephanie Kyriacou and Haeran Ryu sharing second place at -9. Behind them, twelve players are between -8 and -6. The defending champion, Céline Boutier, completed her second round with a scorecard of 68 (-3), following a 69 (-2) on Thursday. She is currently tied for 16th place.
