The Amundi Evian Championship 2026: The Countdown Has Begun

From 16 to 18 September, the Evian Resort Golf Club hosted the 18th edition of the Amundi Evian Juniors Cup. A true benchmark for international U14 golf, the event once again brought together the very best young players — in 2025, representing 20 nations. Over three days, the iconic course of The Amundi Evian Championship — the only Major tournament on continental Europe — provided the stage for performances of the highest calibre.
Recognized as one of the most prestigious springboards for future golf stars, the Amundi Evian Juniors Cup featured two separate individual leaderboards (girls and boys) alongside a team competition. Each delegation, comprising two boys and two girls, had its three best daily scores combined to produce the team total.
After three days of intense competition, Team USA emerged victorious in the 2025 edition’s overall standings. With remarkable consistency and a total score of +3, the Americans finished ahead of Spain in second place (+10) and Japan in third (+12). South Korea took fourth at +17, followed by Switzerland (+22) and France (+24).

Beyond the team standings, the individual performances were equally impressive, shining a spotlight on some exceptionally promising young golfers.
Girls’ Category 
In the girls’ competition, Switzerland’s Lana Guyot dominated with a total of 206 (-7) thanks to three steady rounds (70, 70, 66). Her commanding win secured a prestigious title for her country. Korea’s Yeseo Kang took second place with a total of 212 (-1) after a strong final-round 67, tying with American Kelly Zhang, who also finished at 212 (-1). 
Just behind them, American Caroline Gao and Korea’s Kim Seoh shared fifth place at even-par 213. 
Other standout performances included Japan’s Minku Hashikawa and Rena Chikashige, both finishing inside the top 10 and underlining the strength of Japan’s next generation.
Boys’ Category 
In the boys’ competition, Spain’s Martin Cervera captured the title with a total score of 209 (-4), fuelled by an outstanding second round of 66 and a closing 69. His consistency and composure kept him atop the leaderboard. Fellow Spaniard Oliver De Wint finished runner-up at 215 (+2), thanks in part to an excellent closing round of 66. 
American Ryan Hooker, Frenchman Jayson Piermont and Finland’s Valtteri Lindroos shared third place at 217 (+4), illustrating the depth of talent in this year’s field. 
Just one shot back, Belgium’s Louis Dirickx and Japan’s Hirohashi Rito finished at 218 (+5). Among other rising talents to watch were Italy’s Leonardo Girardi (220, +7) and Japan’s Yoshiyuki Rori (221, +8), who rounded out the top 10.

Grace Kim Grabs Golfing Glory – Final Round Recap
In the heart of one of golf’s most picturesque settings, The Amundi Evian Championship crowned its brightest bloom. On Sunday, July 13, 2025, Grace Kim captured the first Major title of her career at just 24 years old—a triumph nurtured slowly, patiently, and petal by petal. From a fiery rookie who turned professional in 2021, the Australian has matured into a world-class competitor, enduring the game’s capricious challenges without ever losing sight of her growth. After thirteen Major starts, she finally joins the exclusive circle of Major champions.
Following Ayaka Furue’s dazzling final sprint in 2024 and Céline Boutier’s home-soil heroics the year before, the question loomed: what kind of dramatic finish would 2025 deliver? Grace Kim and Atthaya “Jeeno” Thitikul provided a thrilling answer. In a sensational showdown to close the 31st edition of the tournament, the duo went head-to-head in a playoff after Kim’s spectacular eagle on the 18th.
The first playoff hole saw no winner, but delivered no shortage of drama. Both players faltered—Kim finding the water with her second shot—but fate had more in store. After a drop and a penalty, Kim holed a miraculous chip, forcing Thitikul into a clutch up-and-down just to stay alive. The Thai star delivered under pressure, and the duel continued.
Back to the 18th tee they went. Two booming drives found the fairway. This time, Kim was clinical—her approach nestled within a few meters of the pin. Thitikul’s second found the left rough. The end came swiftly. Kim’s birdie putt dropped, sealing one of the most emotional wins of her life. In doing so, she became the first player outside the world’s top 50 to win at Évian since it became a Major. Truly exceptional.
Jeeno Thitikul Left It All on the Line 
The Thai sensation showed immense poise and heart, coming agonizingly close to her own first Major. Her bogey-free 67 (-4), featuring four birdies, looked like a winning score as she overtook clubhouse leader Lottie Woad at -13. But destiny had different plans—and a playoff heartbreak would follow.
Lottie Woad (a): Knocking on History’s Door 
At just 21, Lottie Woad took on the world’s best with fearless resolve. Fueled by pure adrenaline, the World No. 1 amateur nearly pulled off one of the greatest feats in women’s golf history, finishing runner-up in her very first Major. She led the entire field in birdies with 24 and walked away, smiling despite the sting, with the silver medal for low amateur. More importantly, Woad secured her LPGA Tour membership through a new exemption program—becoming the first to do so. Her name is now etched in the game’s annals, and her journey has only just begun.
Minjee Lee Comes Close to a Second Evian Title 
Still in contention late on Sunday, World No. 6 Minjee Lee was poised for a second Évian crown. With her revamped putter scorching hot all week, it was ironically a few stumbles on the greens that cost her. A costly three-putt bogey on 15, followed by a missed birdie chance on 16, saw her fall just short. A brilliant eagle on 18 gave her a top-three finish—but not the playoff spot she hoped for. It marks her 10th Major podium.
From Nastasia Nadaud’s electric performance on home soil, to stunning scorecards from Ruixin Liu and Yuri Yoshida, and breakout showings by Cara Gainer, Somi Lee, and Gabriela Ruffels, this year’s edition offered yet another timeless spectacle. Grace Kim Claims the Holy Grail – Final Round Recap

Gainer Catches Ruffels – Two Share the Lead
Ladies European Tour member Cara Gainer delivered a superb 64 (-7) on Saturday to put herself in contention for a dream Sunday at only her second Major appearance. The 29-year-old Englishwoman’s only previous Major outing came at the 2023 Women’s British Open, where she finished mid-pack. Since then, Gainer has placed third at the 2025 Jabra Ladies Open and captured her first professional win at the Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco.
She’ll tee off in the final group with Gabriela Ruffels, the co-leader after three rounds. Currently ranked 71st in the Rolex Women’s World Rankings, the Australian’s last top-10 came over a year ago at the 2024 Mizuho Americas Open. The younger sister of PGA Tour player Ryan Ruffels, Gabriela has played her best two rounds of the season this week. At the peak of her game, she’ll need to summon everything she has on Sunday as challengers loom large.
 
Four Chasers Lurking
Drama is guaranteed on this 31st Sunday of the tournament’s history, with four players just one shot back at -10: Minjee Lee, Atthaya Thitikul, Grace Kim, and Somi Lee. Their paths have varied, but all are poised for a thrilling final-round sprint. Two Australians and two Asians — including the 2021 champion — ensure a packed leaderboard with star power. World No. 2 Thitikul is chasing her first Major title, but the week has already proven that rankings mean little in this unpredictable showdown.
 
Liu and Yoshida Light It Up
Asian players continued their dominance in style. Following Somi Lee’s 65 (-6) on Friday, Saturday belonged to China’s Ruixin Liu and Japan’s Yuri Yoshida — both carding the lowest round of the week: 63 (-8). Yoshida, a four-time winner on the JLPGA (most recently in March), made the first move. Ranked No. 111 in the world, a win tomorrow would mark the first time in the 21st century that two players from the same country won at Évian in the same year.
Ruixin Liu, meanwhile, put together a masterclass round with seven birdies and an eagle. The 26-year-old, who posted her best Major finish (T31) at the most recent KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, is now just four strokes off the lead — further cementing her rise among the elite.
 
Nadaud Stays in the Fight
Playing her first-ever Major, French rookie Nastasia Nadaud is doing far more than just soaking up the experience — she’s making a statement. Backed by family, friends, and fellow club members, the young talent from Aix-les-Bains lit up the 16th hole with her fourth consecutive birdie, sending the local crowd into a frenzy. Since turning pro in 2023, Nadaud has worked her way up to this moment. With just 18 holes remaining and only three shots behind the leaders, she has a real shot at something historic. Wearing the colors of the Evian Resort Golf Club she represents year-round, she’s already won the hearts of the home fans. Now she’ll look to win the trophy.

Head-to-Head at the Top – Round Three Recap

Somi Lee Leads the Charge, Grace Kim in Hot Pursuit
A member of the LPGA Tour since last year, South Korea’s Somi Lee is making waves this season. She recorded her first career top-10 finish in a Major at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship (T8), and her recent form is nothing short of stellar. Lee has made the cut in 13 of her 14 starts in 2025, collecting four top-5 finishes, including a win at the Dow Championship alongside Jin Hee Im. Today’s performance, a sparkling 65 (-6), sees her vault to the top of the leaderboard at the halfway mark—a result that comes as no surprise to fans of the women’s game.
Hot on her heels, four players sit within two shots. Grace Kim, who held the overnight lead, backed up her strong opening round with a solid 68 (-3) in the morning wave. Jennifer Kupcho, who shared the lead on Thursday, is just one shot behind after 36 holes. The 2022 Chevron Championship winner hasn’t cracked the top 10 in a Major since that triumph over three years ago. Rounding out the chasing pack at seven-under total are Hye-Jin Choi and Andrea Lee.
Nadaud Delights the Home Crowd
Young French talent Nastasia Nadaud put on a show this morning in front of a supportive home crowd. One-under on the front nine and three-under on the back, she’ll head into the weekend with momentum and confidence. Sitting at -4, Nadaud shares that score with fellow Frenchwoman Céline Boutier.
What About Nelly Korda? 
The World No. 1 showed grit and class after a rocky start. Four-over through seven holes, Korda rallied with an eagle and three birdies to post a one-under 70—an impressive comeback that keeps her in contention.
Finally, a special mention for 17-year-old Gianna Clemente, the youngest player in this year’s field. The World Amateur No. 26 carded an even-par round and continues to impress. Two amateurs—Lottie Woad and Maria Marin—have also made it through to the weekend. The highest-finishing amateur will be honored on the 18th green alongside the tournament champion on Sunday afternoon.

A World-Class Battle Takes Shape – Round Two Recap

Five Players Share the Lead
Leading the way is Leona Maguire. The Irishwoman, ranked 85th in the world, kicked off the action this morning despite an opening bogey. Four years after tying the course record (61; -10), she carded a six-under-par round today — the perfect start to her sixth week in Haute-Savoie. She also claimed the tournament’s first hole-in-one on the par-3 second. A two-time winner on the LPGA Tour, Maguire continues to chase her dream of lifting her first Major title.
Joining her at the top of the leaderboard are four more players — two Americans and two Australians — all of whom also shot a superb opening 65 (-6), matching Maguire’s score. The Australians, in particular, played flawlessly, both posting bogey-free rounds. Gabriela Ruffels closed with four birdies over her final seven holes to post her best score yet at Évian. Grace Kim, teeing off a few hours later, matched her countrywoman's performance in what is her third appearance at the event.
Americans Andrea Lee and Jennifer Kupcho also came out strong. Lee teed off early this morning, while Kupcho made the most of sunny afternoon conditions on The Champions Course.
Lottie Woad (a) Plays Fearlessly
Playing in the same group as Maguire, 21-year-old English amateur Lottie Woad made a strong impression. She carded a three-under 68, highlighted by five birdies — one of the standout performances of the opening round. Since topping the World Amateur Golf Ranking in June 2024, Woad has been on a mission. After missing the cut at the Chevron Championship and finishing 31st at the U.S. Women’s Open, she handled her third Major of the year with confidence. A top-25 finish this week would automatically grant her LPGA Tour membership, thanks to a new rule implemented by the American circuit.
Past Champions in Striking Distance
All told, around 30 players finished under par. Among them, several former champions made their presence felt. Minjee Lee (2021) sits just one shot off the lead at -5, one stroke ahead of Ayaka Furue (2024) and two ahead of Céline Boutier (2023). World No. 1 Nelly Korda is also in the mix, her four-under 67 putting her in the top 10.
Further down the board, several marquee players posted a modest 73 (+2), including Lilia Vu, Brooke Henderson, Lydia Ko, and 2017 champion Anna Nordqvist.

Chasing the Summit: Golf’s Brightest Stars Gather in Évian

· From Thursday, July 10 to Sunday, July 13, The Amundi Evian Championship, one of the five major tournaments in women’s golf, returns to the fairways of the Evian Resort Golf Club for four days of top-level competition.

Jeeno Thitikul (THA), currently ranked No. 2 in the world, will be chasing her first major title, while Lydia Ko (NZL) hopes to mark the 10th anniversary of her Evian victory in style. Céline Boutier (FRA), meanwhile, will aim for a home-soil double after her triumph in 2023 — just to name a few.
At the heart of this highly competitive field, six players have been granted wildcards: three professionals and three amateurs. The professionals are Nastasia Nadaud (FRA), Morgane Métraux (SUI), and Mirabel Ting (MAS), who have just turned pro. The amateurs include Lottie Woad (ENG), Gianna Clemente (USA), and Maria Jose Marin (COL), all of whom have delivered outstanding performances and have an average age just over 20. Some of these players are making a return to Evian, where they previously competed in events dedicated to the world’s top young talents as part of The Amundi Evian Galaxy.
Four young amateurs will also tee off thanks to their victories in prestigious amateur tournaments: Carla Bernat Escuder (ESP, 20), winner of the 2025 Augusta National Women’s Amateur, Jeneath Wong (MAS, 20), winner of the 2025 Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific, Clarissa Temelo (MEX, 18), winner of the Women’s Amateur Latin America 2024 and Rianne Malixi (PHI, 18), winner of the US Women’s Amateur 2024. All four will be driven by the ambition to lift the trophy awarded to the best amateur of this Major.

Three professionals
Nastasia Nadaud (FRA, 20)
Nastasia’s journey, which began when she picked up golf at the age of 6, is anything but conventional. While still an amateur, she claimed her first professional win in Sweden in 2022 on the LET Access Series. The following year, at just 18, she chose to turn professional, bypassing the traditional American collegiate path. Today, the French player competes on the Ladies European Tour (LET), where her strong performances have earned her a spot in the European Top 15. For this edition of The Amundi Evian Championship, the Evian Resort Golf Club ambassador will make her Major debut, right at home.
Morgane Métraux (SUI, 28)
After completing her collegiate career at Florida State University, Morgane turned professional in 2018. A member of the Amundi Team alongside her sister Kim, she earned her LPGA Tour card for the 2022 season. The Swiss champion knows the Champions Course at the Evian Resort Golf Club inside out; she won the Jabra Ladies Open there in 2024 and has already competed three times in The Amundi Evian Championship.
Mirabel Ting (MAS, 19)
Winner of the Annika Award 2025, recognizing the best American college golfer, Mirabel had 5 victories in 9 tournaments, including 3 in a row during her college season. An exceptional season with an average score of 67.1, the best in the country. This distinction earned her a spot in The Amundi Evian Championship, the first tournament she chose to play in as a professional.
Three amateurs
Lottie Woad (ENG, 21)
Amateur World No.1 since June 2024, Florida State University student Lottie was named ACC Golfer of the Year 2024 after being Freshman of the Year in 2023. This year, she finished 23rd in the Chevron Championship 2024, her very first major tournament, as an amateur. She now needs just 2 points to obtain her LPGA card directly via the new pathway set up by the American tour. Two points she could earn if she finishes in the top 25 of The Amundi Evian Championship, a major tournament she already competed in last year.
Gianna Clemente (USA, 16)
Gianna earned her selection for The Amundi Evian Championship thanks to her Rolex Junior Player of the Year 2024 title, joining legends such as Tiger Woods, Rose Zhang and Scottie
Scheffler. Winner of the U.S. Girls' Junior 2024, after being runner-up in 2022 and semifinalist in 2023, she has already played several LPGA tournaments, including the ShopRite Classic where she finished 47th. She has also shone as a team player, playing a key role in the USA's record victory at the PING Junior Solheim Cup 2024. She already knows Evian, having played in The Amundi Evian Juniors Cup there in 2022.
Maria Jose Marin (COL, 18)
Thanks to her selection for the Arnold Palmer Cup, the Colombian, currently 5th in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, was chosen by her teammates following Team International's victory to receive an invitation to The Amundi Evian Championship 2025. Winner of the NCAA Women's Individual Championship 2025, the University of Arkansas student was named SEC Freshman of the Year in 2024, then SEC Player of the Year in 2025.
