It’s Time to Tee Off the 2025 Edition of the Major. The very best in women’s golf have gathered in Haute-Savoie for The Amundi Evian Championship, one of the five prestigious Grand Slam events. For the tournament’s 31st edition, the sun is casting its golden light on The Champions Course—18 holes of pure paradise where the players have been getting their bearings since Monday. But who will follow in the footsteps of Japan’s Ayaka Furue, last year’s winner? It’s anyone’s guess—as is often the case at Évian, where only Annika Sörenstam and Ai Miyazato have claimed two titles since the early 2000s. With a wide field of potential champions, this year’s edition promises to be full of suspense.

That sense of unpredictability has become something of a tradition in women’s golf—each of the last twelve Majors has produced a different winner. The most recent of them, Minjee Lee, is a familiar face around Lake Geneva. The Australian claimed her third Grand Slam title at the end of June (KPMG Women’s PGA Championship), four years after securing her first Major win right here. Now ranked sixth in the world, she returns to Évian as one of the tournament’s past champions, eager to add a second trophy to her name. But it won’t be easy—132 players will tee off tomorrow at 7:00 AM (with a two-tee start from holes 1 and 10), all determined to conquer The Champions Course, if not to stop and admire its beauty.

The stakes are high, with each player chasing her own dream while collectively writing the story of the 2025 Major. The week promises to be rich and exhilarating. Eight amateur players will enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to compete alongside the sport’s elite. More than thirty nationalities are represented in the field. And just like Ayaka Furue’s spectacular final-round surge last year, we’re expecting fireworks once again. So keep your eyes wide open—the show is only just beginning!
